Chris Brothers/Bonté Foods partner with Atlantic Meats

Chris Brothers launches a full line of traditional “salted meat” products. The new line, consisting of several recipes, launched using the popular Atlantic Meats products.

Sandy Dolan owns Atlantic Meats which was started by his father in 1990. “Since we’re currently only a provincially inspected facility, the new partnership with Chris Brothers will allow us greater distribution to all retailers across Atlantic Canada and Canada. It will also allow us to seek new export opportunities.

“Salted meats rose in popularity in the days before refrigeration to keep meats ‘cured ‘ prior to consumption” says company president Michael Whittaker. He and his partner Bill Hay are co-owners of Trucorp Investments, Bonté’s parent company, which was recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed companies last year. The Bonté facility is located in Dieppe NB.

Barbara Ann O’Brien, Executive Vice President of Bonté Foods, and her team have been largely responsible for the product launch. “This is a great initiative for us” says Barbara Ann, “Atlantic Meats have a premium product line and a history of making excellent products that Nova Scotians love. It fits in perfectly with our plan to grow the Chris Brothers product line and we have a full product launch from zero to Atlantic wide within three months, an amazing speed in terms of industry standards. The packaging will carry both Atlantic Meats and Chris Brothers logos, but all the recipes are the originals from Atlantic Meats. Consumers can find these products on the shelves in the meat department of their local grocery store throughout Atlantic Canada.
